Easter Bunny Stained Glass Pattern

by Gwynne

easterbun1 thumbsize.jpgHere is a horizontal oval stained glass panel of the Easter Bunny with three colorful eggs. This is a fairly simple pattern with only 37 pieces.

This [tag]Easter bunny stained glass[/tag] panel looks best with soft pastel colors. The pattern has glass suggestions.

The Easter Bunny stained glass pattern is available in black & white and color jpgs and in Glass Eye 2000 format.

According to Wikipedia:

Eostre (“Easter”) is the name of a putative goddess of the Anglo-Saxons. The Venerable Bede described her worship as having died out by the time he began writing (in Latin) the first significant history of the Anglo-Saxons. Some historians have suggested that she may have been invented by Bede, as there are no known references to her preceding his work.

For another interesting discussion of the possible relationship between the Easter bunny and Anglo-Saxon mythology see Ireland’s Public information Service on environmental matters.

St. Patrick’s Day- Two More Patterns

by Gwynne

I have two more [tag]St. Patrick’s Day patterns[/tag] for you. One of them is also a [tag]Celtic knot pattern[/tag].

shamrock.jpgThe first pattern is a very simple shamrock- great for beginners. It’s very easy to cut and put together, and it only requires one color- green. The pattern is designed to avoid the formation of a large blob of solder at the center by offsetting the center joints.

The simple Shamrock pattern is available in black & white jpg and color jpg and Glass Eye 2000 format.
celticshamrock.jpgThe second pattern is the Celtic Shamrock pattern. It combines three Celtic knots within a shamrock.

The ancient Celts used geometric designs for decoration in pre-Christian times.
Celtic knotwork appeared later, about 450 A.D., and variations of these stylized knots were used to decorate Christian manuscripts and artwork, such as the Book of Kells and the Lindisfarne Gospels.

The Celtic Shamrock pattern is available in black & white jpg and color jpg and Glass Eye 2000 format.

Rainbow & Pot of Gold Free Stained Glass Pattern

by Gwynne

rainbowpotgoldcolor.jpgIf you can’t catch a leprechaun this St. Patrick’s Day, make your own pot of gold- in stained glass, that is.
This is a simple and colorful piece. We’ve used Spectrum’s Silvercoat in gold Mirror (SC1102W) for the gold in the pot at the end of the rainbow. Somewhere a leprechaun is jealous.

Valentine Hearts Letter Holder – Free Pattern

by Gwynne

3D_heart_letterholder.jpgHere is a free pattern for a [tag]Valentine Hearts stained glass letter holder[/tag] for all of those Valentine’s Day cards due to arrive on February 14th.

Make only the Joined Hearts piece if you wish to make a suncatcher.

Suggested glass choices are reds or pinks for the hearts and opalescent whites or textured clears for the background. The area where the two hearts overlap reflects the merging of two different heart colors.

The Valentine Hearts [tag]stained glass letter holder[/tag] is shown here in Spectrum 1901W Quartz Pink Waterglass, 152W Ruby Red cathedral Waterglass, 307S Clear/White, Translucent Opalescent, and Uroboros 00-294 pink, magenta, and royal crimson Ring Mottle.

Use this link for the Valentine Hearts Letter Holder in a black & white jpg and in the Glass Eye 2000 format. Directions for assembling the letter holder are with the pattern and are also available in a txt format and below.

To make the letter holder:

1. Cut two of each rectangle and one of the Joined Hearts piece.
2. Wrap all glass pieces with foil. If desired, wrap one larger rectangle with wider foil and use this as the base piece.
3. Solder the Joined Hearts section.
4. Place base rectangle on work surface. Construct as for a basic box, placing Joined Hearts on one long side of base and plain large rectangle on opposite long side. Place small rectangles at each end. Tack solder all pieces.
5. Solder all inside and out.
6. Clean. Patina if desired. Apply protective wax.

You are now ready for those Valentine cards and love letters!

Free Valentine Teddy Bear Stained Glass Pattern

by Gwynne

teddy_in_heart.jpgHere is a cute Valentine [tag]Teddy Bear[/tag] stained glass pattern just in time for Valentine’s Day!

If you don’t use a glass saw, it’s probably easier to make the heart and the bear separately and tack solder the bear on top of the heart.

If you decide to cut each piece for a suncatcher, you may need a saw for the two pieces surrounding the end of each front paw.

The eyes, nose, and mouth may be painted, glued on, or done with foil overlay and patinaed black.

Teddy is pictured here in Uroboros Gold-Pink and White, Apple Blossoms Ring Mottle; Spectrum Quartz Pink Waterglass; Spectrum Clear/White, Translucent Opalescent; Spectrum Black Smooth Cathedral; and Spectrum Pale Amber Smooth Cathedral.
